A Searing Hole In Our Hearts...

What happened in Bombay on November 26, should never have. Not to any city of the world, nowhere on this planet.

Why terrorism exists is not the issue, it does. But that there can be so much hatred in the human heart that it can trigger such senseless, brutal killing of hapless, innocent people is unfathomable.

Those who justify this mayhem in the name of their faith and religion are nothing but cowards. They are evil people who are doing nothing except destroying the very religion they say they want to protect. And in the bargain the future of innumerable people, for generations to come.

Bombay has risen to the call. The people have shown solidarity and a strong will. And they are now awakened.

We at UpperCrust offer our condolences to all those who lost loved ones in the carnage all over the city. To Karambir Kang of the Taj, who lost his wife and two children and his colleague Chef Hemant Oberoi who is emotionally devastated. We grieve with Devendra Bharma of the Oberoi who lost so many of his loyal staff. Our prayers are with Chef Rego of Goa, whose tears don’t stop for he too lost his son to the bullets of the madmen. To the families of all the chefs and restaurant staff who laid down their lives, helping guests till the very end. We knew many of them, we had worked with them. And today our souls weep for them.

May the glow of the many candles lit by the hearts of the people of India give some warmth to each of us and light the way for a peaceful future.
