Cute Ayesha
I am a big fan of Ayesha Takia and was so glad to read about her in your cover article. She is so cute. I knew very little about her personal life until now and was so glad to learn so many new aspects about her
family. I don’t know about Farhan Azmi but my big request to him is to make sure he always keeps her happy and smiling.

Mariwala in Mahableshwar
It was so inspiring to read about Mr Mariwala’s Kitchen In The Forest. What a visual delight! And so beautifully captured by Farzana Contractor’s camera. She gives such a poetic account of her experience too. Who would not want to go and live in such a paradise of a place? At 75 years of age Mr. Mariwala is certainly living it up and on his own terms, in solitude and fun, cooking for himself and his friends. Wishing him well. Please continue to bring to us such interesting stories of people who are otherwise out of our ambit.

A pleasure indeed
It was indeed a pleasure to have Farzana Contractor at my farmhouse in Mahabaleshwar for a quick lunch. In that short time she enjoyed the wild beauty of monsoon in the mountains, did justice to the food served and completed the assignment so efficiently. She did not miss anything. Frankly, I was impressed.

She captured the monsoon in Mahabaleshwar valley so beautifully in her camera. The article was also written very well. No mistakes, very crisp and to the point. My family and friends were delighted going through the same. I look forward to seeing her at my farm again, this time to sit, relax and enjoy herself.

Superb, well written
I was delighted to read India On A High, in your last issue.

In my view this article is well researched and superbly articulated. A detailed and a brave editorial attempt in bringing together captains of the various national and international spirits and wine companies as part of one story, something which could not have been easy. You can be proud of your achievement. It is certainly a mumero uno attempt by any publication in India. This certainly further proves you have tremendous good will and a high credibilty factor.

I am truly impressed with Farzana Contractor’s quality writing and penmanship. It sure gives a well rounded view of the Alcobev industry in India.

It will be unfair, if I don't compliment you on the overall quality of the magazine and the other diverse features which have got my father, who is otherwise an enthusiastic reader of literature and religious texts, completely hooked on to UpperCrust.

Lucky people
First things first. Farzana Contractor’s photograph (the one on the editorial page, sitting like a queen with the Mediteranean Sea at her feet) has been shot wonderfully. I noticed the photograph is by Zeeshan Kara, I envy him. I didn’t know where this Malta was, but thanks to UpperCrust I do now. I loved the way the location was explained. Apart from that, what I liked most was Busybee’s article, Round and About. I definitely would like to try some of the famous country liquor (hooch) at Versova. Hope I don’t end up in the Mahim creek. I am kind of falling in love with your magazine. Thumbs up to your team. By the way, I am a student, 19 years old.

Honeymooner’s Delight
A very close friend is getting married in January. The responsibility of selecting their honeymoon destination was hers. She was tearing her hair out trying to zero in on somewhere perfect. So I called her over, pointed to my bookcase and asked her to go through the UpperCrust magazines kept there. You will be happy to know I have each and every issue carefully kept. I recommended two countries, Malta and New Zealand.

She fell in love with Malta, just seeing the pictures, but decided on New Zealand, Queenstown and Wanaka. Her fiancé loves adventure sports, the weather will be fine and they both like to drive. She hasn’t stopped thanking me. I told her she should thank UpperCrust!

Great Tips
I am a regular reader of UpperCrust and I have found your magazine to be the most useful by far. All the information you give is well researched and well presented and what is more, the tips really work. I particulary liked A Nutty Event, in your latest issue. I was not aware of the health values of the hazelnut, that it protects us from heart diseases, even cancer. Well, I went and bought some spiced hazelnuts and enjoyed munching them - with some scotch, of course!

Faraal Recipes
Fasting during Shravan has never really been enjoyable for me. But going through the faraal recipes given by Pinky Dixit in the Recipe Pages, I think I am actually looking forward to the coming Shravan. I tried most of them with good results. Incidentally, though the article was a little long drawn, the idea of combining the story with Babulnath Temple was brilliant. I am planning to eat at Soam when I next visit Mumbai.

UpperCrust People

It’s interesting how UpperCrust manages to locate such unusual people in each issue. I am very much a people’s person, in the sense that I like to read about people of substance and I find I enjoy reading about the ones you select.

Hira Sehgal, hotelier from London sounds like a very humane person. That he has chosen to keep in touch with India is heartening. I hope to go to his hotel at my next visit to London.

I also notice we have many enterprising young Indians who are expanding the entertainment industry in our country. I may not go for a beer to Woodside Inn since I live too far away in the suburbs but I am happy that such active enterprise is on the increase. Well done, Woodside Boys!
