Anju Bobby George The winner of Sonys Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant, cannot be called a foodie in the real sense; but he has very specific likes and dislikes in food. For someone who sings like a dream, it is important for him to take care of his voice, but he admits that once in a way he does indulge in a little ice-cream.

Breakfast is an important meal for you, isnt it?
Yes, I think a good meal is a great way to start your day. Usually my breakfast consists of tea, biscuits, sometimes its even leftover sabzi and rotis. And the traditional poha, which is my all-time favourite.

Whats this about you and eggs?
Gosh, I love them. In fact, the best thing I can cook is eggs, omelettes to be precise. I not only cook it well, but I enjoy eating eggs.

Do you enjoy eating out?
Yes, I do. I enjoy visiting restaurants that are open till late. That way I can enjoy a meal after my work is done.

Any favourite restaurants?
Theres Shalimar at Bandra and Delhi Durbar. Chicken, prawns, lobster and crabs are what I enjoy eating in restaurants. I like food cooked the traditional North Indian way. I also enjoy the food at Nooranis. Usually in restaurants I dont experiment beyond shell fish, but at home I eat a lot more varieties. We usually cook it in a very traditional way, which I like.

Do you have any food restrictions that could hamper your singing?
I have a person who helps me with my diet and fitness programmes. I avoid ice-creams and any cold drinks. Once in a while, I indulge, it is not possible for me to stay away for long.

Any favourite fruits or vegetables?
e. Then, there are apples and pomelos. Among the vegetables, spinach is my favourite. Usually I eat light lunches and dinners, sometimes if I am busy, I skip my lunch. Thats why I make sure I have a good breakfast.

Does any street food interest you?
I love street food. Near my home at Kandivili East, there is this great bhel-puri stall, and the vada pav at Krishnas in Dadar is out of this world.

What food can you eat anytime of the day?
Yellow dal, I can eat that with everything. With rice, with rotis, with chichen and with fish. Everything, except with Chinese food (laughs).
